Our editor Angelo Vero has found himself to the beautiful beach side of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. And as a gay man himself he loves to find out where the queer community hangs and parties. He teamed up for this article with the team of Punta Cana Pride to give an overview of the lgbtq friendly party spots in Punta Cana.

Icon Lounge

Every Friday, you can visit Icon Lounge for an LGBTQ friendly party. Icon is a cozy bar with an outdoor patio. The program always features local drag queens and gogo dancers. From 9pm to 12am there is also a special promotion on drinks every time. The perfect place for a fun Friday night.

Soles Beach Bar

Soles is probably the best known beach bar in the community because of their open attitude. Since their opening, they have always been a local reference for those who want to have fun at the beach. On the weekends, they always have electronic music from the late afternoon onwards. Probably one of the reasons why international gays like to spend their afternoons and evenings here.

Paradise Garage

Named after the famous nightclub Paradise garage that was known between 1976 and 1987 as the go to place for the queer community in New York City. Paradise Garage Punta Cana aims to continue that tradition with a touch of Dominican vibes. The new nightclub will officially this Fall soon, bringing national and international talent under one roof. With a unique offering of drag shows, gogo dancers and soon much more.

The club will be open from Thursday to Sunday, every weekend.

Coco Bongo en Maroca

Although neither club is a true queer location, they are both well-known places where lgbtq people can be found. Besides the fact that a large part of the cast at Coco Bongo is gay, there are also a lot of other handsome men and women on stage. So much beauty obviously attracts the gays as well. Maroca is known in the community as the club where you can really party hard in Punta Cana when most bars and other clubs are already closed.

Non-profit organization Punta Cana Pride is currently developing a new website. Here you will be able to consult all future queer and lgbtq friendly events and parties in Punta Cana.
