Social media is getting bigger every day. And companies should take advantage of this growth too! Whether you work for B2B or B2C, the benefits of Social Media remain the same. It not only helps to increase visibility and credibility. Thanks to Social Media you can also attract a lot of new customers and it will help you connect to your target market in an optimal way! But how do you make sure that you stand out from the crowd?

That’s what we’re giving you 5 tips around today: your branding on Social Media. Because obviously you’ve been working on your branding behind the scenes for years, or recently as a start-up. Think here about your website, corporate identity and also your logo. And this is what you will also extend on your Social Media profiles.

Tip #1: Choose the most appropriate Social network

There are many social media platforms that you can use to reach your target audience. So first, ask yourself which target group you want to reach and which network fits that. A very easy example: If you are a B2B company, you most likely want to leverage the power of LinkedIn to build your brand. Why? Because LinkedIn is actively used by many business owners!

But if your business is more on the B2C or C2C side, you may want to become more active on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest. Since these are primarily focused on increasing your reach and visibility. And for Pinterest we even wrote a special guide to help brands increase their reach! You can download it here.

However remember that each social media platform has an audience that is used to seeing a certain type of content. So adapt your communication and tone of voice per network!

Tip #2: Be consistent with your messages

Every social media channel has the potential to grow your brand, as your audience can rely on your consistency. Therefore, having an effective social media content strategy is critical. And while it’s important to stay consistent with your content, it’s also important to post good content regularly. How often people interact with your brand on social media has an impact on how connected they feel to it. And good connections creates more credibility and afterwards more sales!

So when your messages are consistent over a period of time, it becomes easy to gain trust and build a connection. Of course, in the beginning, you will need to try out different types of content and hashtags to see what works best for your target audience. And to do this immediately right, we recommend you to download our Hashtag Guide so you can immediately grow your reach.

It takes some time to get it right, but once you figure out what works and what doesn’t, you’ll find that it’s easier to be consistent and to write good captions!

Tip #3: Post as frequently as possible

Creating an account on the right social media platform and making sure it looks perfect is only the first part of the equation. The other part involved is getting your message out, storytelling.

As a startup company, you should strive to make the best first impression on your social media followers. Because that’s the first step in building a strong, long-term relationship with your target audience. And let’s be honest: it is very easy to lose your presence in the midst of the chaos on social media platforms. But by posting informative updates regularly, you manage to stay in the minds of your social media audience.

This is the frequency of publishing we recommend you to do per profile:

– Instagram: Once a day

– Facebook: Once to twice a day

– Pinterest: Up to 5 times a day

– Blog: 2 to 3 times a week

– LinkedIn: Once a day

Of course, the frequency depends on your own social media strategy and calendar. As long as you have it well worked out, are active on the right profiles and don’t fall silent, you can continue to grow.

Tip #4: Find your brand voice

Every brand has a personality that sets it apart from the others. This unique personality not only helps a brand connect with its target audience, but also helps build better relationships with their (potential) clients. Because if your brand’s personality is not reflected in your content on social media, it will be hard to be heard. Therefore, you need to find and develop your voice on social media.

Developing a voice doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a while to find it and get comfortable with it. But once you do, creating the right content becomes more practical and easier.

Tip #5: Optimize your Profile bio

Most important, and what many underestimate, is your Social Media biography. Whether it’s on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram, if you want your social media branding efforts to pay off, your profile needs to stand out!

Don’t leave your visitors in the dark about who you are and what you do. Tell them who you are, what you do and what you can help with. This can be thanks to a particular product, but your services should also be immediately clear. So instead of adding random motivational quotes in your bio that won’t help you attract new customers, use it to describe the purpose of your business in a few words.
